What are the benefits of working out in a group?
Most people dread going to the gym because of unfamiliarity.
So, what to do and where to start?
What if we tell you that going to the gym and attending group classes can lower your stress levels by 26%?
This number was based on a study conducted by American Osteopathic Association in 2017.
The study consisted of 69 medical students who are known for having high stress levels.
They were given an option to participate in either a group workouts or individual workouts of at least once a week.
After 12 weeks, the participants who chose group exercise and spent upto 30 minutes at least once a week showed significant improvements in all three quality of life:
Mental – 12.6%
Physical – 24.8%
Emotional – 26%
Compared to participants who did individual workouts and spent twice as long as the group workout time.
Individuals did not see any significant improvements other than 11% increase in mental quality of life. Aside from that, below are the other known benefits of working out in a group:
- Increasing self-confidence;
- Exercises tend to be more doable and enjoyable;
- Having more friends;
